Business calculators
Five free tools to put real numbers behind HR decisions: the cost of your HR setup, the cost of a hire, payroll savings, notice periods and the true cost of an employee. Also try the final dues, leave pay and overtime and minimum wage check calculators. For PAYE and take-home pay, use the Kenya payroll calculator, the net to gross calculator or the employer monthly bill calculator.
What is your in-house HR function really costing you?
Add up the true cost of running HR internally: salaries, tools and overhead. Most businesses only track the salary line.
What does each hire actually cost you?
Cost per hire is rarely just the job advert. This adds recruiter time, advertising and agency fees into one real number.
In-house versus outsourced payroll
Compare what you spend processing payroll internally with an outsourced rate. Payroll outsourcing is KES 300 to 500 per employee a month, with a KES 5,000 monthly minimum.
Notice period and pay in lieu (Kenya)
Based on the Employment Act 2007, Section 35: the statutory minimum notice for monthly-paid employees is 28 days, or the equivalent in pay.
This is a general guide based on Employment Act 2007 Section 35 and is not legal advice. Probation notice is commonly 7 days by contract; confirm against the specific agreement.
The true cost of an employee (Kenya)
Gross salary is never the full story. This adds statutory employer contributions and common provisions on top.
These are fast estimates using the figures you enter. Statutory figures use the NSSF Act 2013 (Year 4, from February 2026) and the Affordable Housing Levy: the same engine behind the Kenya payroll calculator. Want the numbers reviewed by a person? Book a free consultation.
